CONTEST Spotlights

Our top photos of 2024

2024 was an incredible year for the Share the Experience Employee Photo Contest.

The winning photos were selected based on their exemplary photographic qualities and their amazing representations of the spectacular recreational opportunities offered through our federal lands and waters. We are proud to present the 2024 winners.

Grand Prize

The Grand Prize photo was taken by Beth Dhunjisha, National Park Service, while at Valley Forge National Historical Park. When asked about the photo, Beth said:

"This small jumping spider, perhaps only 5mm in length, stared curiously back at me from its perch on a blade of grass in a meadow at Valley Forge National Historical Park. As I've gained a better understanding of ecosystems, the more I find the little things intriguing.  Take, for example, this spider.  It's a voracious predator that may feed on things as large as itself. In turn, another animal, such as a bobolink, a bird recently returning to Valley Forge, may feed on it. A larger predator, like a snake or fox, may feed on the bobolink. When zooming back out to the bigger picture, you start to realize that this little jumping spider has a much bigger role to play in the ecosystem than its diminutive size suggests. It reminds you that it takes all things, big and small, to make a healthy ecosystem."
